Life-Changing

This is what happened to me and what I am doing about it.

I’m a regular guy.

I go to work, pay my taxes, take out the garbage*.

I’m pretty good at “balancing” whether work and enjoyment, sensible steps and hopefulness, building a better future and appreciating this moment. Most notably, organising the ‘things’ of a trip and why I’m going in the first place.

As a result, I’ve become really good at planning (especially trips) and have used that increasingly

Uh Oh!

About two weeks before a particularly needed (and truly “once-in-a-lifetime” Trip, apparently I ate a ‘bad’ piece of chicken, which gave me a particularly brutal case of dehydration.

Although ‘I nearly died’ is certainly overly dramatic, I was indeed on the verge of needing dialysis!  WHAT?!?  Over a week in the hospital and looking at a very expensive trip I could not take, made that chicken VERY expensive, but the biggest loss for me was missing out on the First wedding for a part of the family we are particularly fond of! Even worse, this trip was with our grown granddaughter, who’d literally had ‘the worst year of her life’, putting her own hopes and dreams aside to help us take cake of her siblings, when her mother passed away unexpectedly.

Anyway, I would not be able to help her use this trip to bring back that bright-eyed wonder during a trip that was designed specifically to do that, and hopefully curb her growing depression.

So, Now What?

Of course, my medical needs were attended to by the truly excellent team of specialists at the best hospital near me.   That HAS to be Priotity One.   It was, and they worked together to get me out of danger and on the road to recovery.  The problem became, that’s a long, slow road.  And I still had a wife and daughter that I wanted to ‘be there for’ as well as the joy of the family wedding!
